Alick is a lovely, fluid mover with fabulous bone and superior conformation. Standing 14.1hh, Alick possesses phenomenal show presence, a flashy trot, and a calm, docile temperament. Colliery Alick is by Stoneriggs Alick, who has produced numerous champions in the UK. Colliery Alick has produced several breeding stallions and stud prospects throughout North America.
Alick is available only through AI via private treaty. Because his semen freezes so well (his progressive motility ranges between 55% and 45% after thawing), we have chosen to provide mostly frozen semen, though fresh cooled is also available. Shipped semen is provided through the Department of Equine Reproduction at the University of California, Davis.
Alick has amassed an impressive show and competition record, including two Reserve Best in Show wins at the 2006 Welsh Pacific Coast Classic under UK judge Simon Bigley and the 2007 West Coast Connemara Show under UK judge Linda Impey. Alick has earned Championships and Reserve Championships in the jumper ring and pleasure driving shows and he has also successfully competed in combined driving events at the preliminary, single-pony level.
In 2007, Alick was honored as Ridden Reserve Champion at the Welsh American Nationals, where he also earned his fourth Mountain and Moorland Supreme Championship, under UK judge Jane Etheridge, who said of him: “Smashing – a truly outstanding Dales Pony!”
As an ambassador for an endangered breed, Alick is hard to beat. He has traveled throughout California and Oregon, participating in fairs, parades, exhibitions and other non-competition venues, making friends and winning fans wherever he goes. He is truly deserving of the moniker “The Great All-rounder”.
